Transfer GPA to Penn State / JMU

After 51.5 Credits at a small private college, my gpa is a 3.17. My SAT score is Math: 690 and Reading: 630.

At the end of the term i will have a 3.25

What are my chances of getting accepted into PSU or JMU with a 3.17?
And would they improve that much if i waited until the end of the term (i can for PSU, but past deadline for JMU)

Also,
School im at is Drexel
High School GPA was 3.24 which probably is irrelevant

bumping thread

what is your major??

its biology

Penn State is a little harder to get in as a transfer but you’ve got a shot. According to collegeboard, Penn State has a 44% acceptance rate for transfers while JMU accepts about 64%.The stats were based on Fall 2009 applications. I guess you could apply later for Penn State but i dont think it would make much of a difference, and you will also be competing for a limited amount of space. I think you have a better shot at JMU than Penn State but you should def. give both schools a try. I am also an applicant to JMU this fall for their CIS program in the Business department. Anyway all the best with the applications!!

Has anyone been accepted to either recently with a similar GPA?

I transferred to JMU from Virginia Tech with a 3.4. I had a 3.6 in high school. I was also in-state which might have been a factor. I believe it is worth trying. If you really want to go to either of those schools you have to be 100% committed, and your committment will likely show through your essays.

What has been your experience at jmu kindaslick89?
