whats the average gpa for admitted transfers?

D got in without a 4.0, if that helps!

what was it exactly, and what was her hs gpa and test scores? was she coming from a 4 yr university or community college?

She actually was admitted as a h.s. senior, but turned Vandy down for a smaller LAC in the top 40. She had excellent stats in high school. She applied for transfer during her freshman year. I don't want to post her college stats here, because the transfer pool is smaller than the high school pool. It seems too personal to give them. I will say, though, that it appears that the most important factor in transferring to Vandy is WHY you want to transfer. If you check the general transfer thread, you'll see some kids with poor high school stats who did well at little known colleges & were admitted to Vandy as transfers. If you can provide evidence that shows the admissions committee that you will do well if admitted to Vandy, you have a shot ... as long as you meet the criteria outlined for transfers.

what exactly is the criteria? i'm wondering the average admitted gpa for a transfer student.

The criteria? At least a 3.0. How much higher is probably a function of the student's high school record, college record, EC's, essay, courses, college, etc. In other words, there is no way to know! My advice is to apply & see what happens. No one can give you a cut & dried answer, because there is none.
