what's the gpa I'm going to need if I want to transfer to Berkeley from a CC? Currently, I have a 3.4...but I just don't think that's going to get me in.

Thoughts?

Depends on the major. Usually around a 3.7 to a 3.8 to be competitive... but other factors such as your major and essays play a big role as well. Some art/history majors with GPAs around yours get in.

I agree with the above poster. Most people will tell you a 3.7+ is competitive. But that doesn't mean no one gets in with lower stats. Go ahead and apply, and rock those personal statements. Do you have any EC's or volunteer work to add to the application? Just make sure you express you individuality and potential - and work hard this fall so you can update the application with good grades.

What is your intended major, by the way?

Got in with a 3.54. I thought I had so-so essays, but apparently they were not just so-so. Also, I fnished all my 62 units in three semesters + summer, without any AP credits. So they gave me props for that :) It may also have helped that I had a 4.0 until I had to do the WIP update.
