I was wondering after the UC transfer applications reopen for updates (around january), are we allowed to make changes to our previously entered grades. The reason I am asking is because I plan on doing an academic renewal for one of my semesters but it won't go through until the fall semester. Is it possible to make corrections because my transcript will have changed by the time the updated grades are due?

Keep in mind that you can’t change the grades once you submit your app. The only grades you can change/update are the grades for FALL semester( as they are used for your admission) and update coursework for Winter/spring ( in progress/ planned/etc)

Also, the grades are meant to reflect a true and complete representation of your transcripts AT THE TiME you are filling out the app. I have a first hand experience bc last year I wanted to do academic renewal on two courses, but I needed to wait until the fall semester ended( which was well after nov 30 deadline ) to petition for AR. I did not indicate the courses as “AR”. I simply put the grades associated with the classes, then in the “additional comment box” I said that “course A” and “course B” were going to be petitioned for AR and if it was granted, I would state it on my academic transfer update(Jan.) I got it, and as I couldn’t change my grades I simply wrote in the additional box my new GPA and mentioned that my classes had been granted AR (since you can’t go back and change the grades like I said)

Didn’t wanna seem like I was falsifying information if in the end I didn’t end up getting AR, you know?

While I get what you’re saying, if the process is 100% going through by end of fall I would still go with AR. The UCs are clearly going to get that the AR was really an F or a D and that you messed up - you’re not being secretive. But the AR wording indicates it is a grade now off the GPA table.

I have seen this done fairly regularly. I’m not a dishonest person and I know a person can split hairs over this but again if it’s definitely going through by end of fall I don’t see it as dishonest and I would counter honestly with that belief. But that’s just me.

And if for some extremely highly-unlikely reason the AR guarantee fell through, you can mail in changes and submit new unofficial transcripts. You just can’t do it online.
