Transfer Help Needed!

Hi, I'm applying Transfer to a bunch of schools. I would say I messed up in High School. I took International Baccalaureate (known at our school for being much harder than AP, which was further divided into HL Math or Sciences, the HL Math course, being, of course, ridiculously harder as well - average 5 hours of work/night for one class when math was never my strong point).

I ended up with roughly a 4.28(weighted)/3.53(unweighted) at the end of junior year, with an upward trend (nearly all A's the end of junior year). However, I ended with a 4.18(weighted)/3.40(unweighted) at the end of senior year (messed up severely my senior year, had to take an outside class prerequisite dropping the weighted, and had a particular incident with an aggressive teacher who ended up giving me a D in class). Although not explained, a lot of personal stuff weighed down on me senior year, and some days I made up excuses not to attend school.

At the end of high school, my best SAT scores in each section ended up being: CR: 730 M: 700 W: 660. The first set of SAT scores taken in Apr 2006 started with CR: 730 M: 700 W: 610. The second set of SAT scores in Jun 2006 ended with CR: 700 M: 700 W: 660.

I retook the SATs in June 2008. My scores were: CR: 690 M: 730 W: 710.

Therefore cumulatively speaking (if that's the final one that counts), my highest scores are: CR: 730 M: 730 W: 710, which brings my total SAT score count to a 2170.

I also took three subject tests. Chinese: 800, English: 680, Math 2: 670.

In college, at the University of Arizona, as an honors student taking 3/5 honors classes, I pulled a 4.0 first semester. I took 4/5 honors classes, and I pulled a 3.6 second semester. This left my total gpa at: 3.8.

Regarding my 3.6 second semester, one of my classes I got the grade was an easy class. I am also thinking of begging the school to allow me to retake the two classes (which I got B's in), and explaining my circumstances. The idea of losing my 4.0 is irking me.

In miscellaneous, I got a summer job at my school (late Apr 2008-current) under the bigger branch of "Federal Bureau of Economic Research, Inc." I was also an active member of Honors Student Council and Entrepreneurship Students Association.

I had a bunch in High School as well, with numerous officer positions, but I don't think those count anymore.

Summary Statistics:
College GPA - Honors Student: 3.8
High School GPA - IB Student: 4.18/3.4
SAT (cumulative + college): 2170
SAT (cumulative high school): 2090
SAT Subject Tests:
Chinese - 800
English - 680
Math 2 - 670
Some work experience and extracurricular activity

Anyways based on my complete, non-withholding record I have dictated above, what are my chances and what do you think are the best schools I can get into?

I have a few schools in mind, should I list the schools?

Why exactly do you want to leave U of Arizona considering that you are in the honors program there? To be quite honest, you won't get a much better education anywhere else.

And, if you are an in-state resident, you absolutely won't be able to beat the price!

I think i also mistitled. I wanted this to be a chancing thread!

UPenn: January 1 earliest
*Cornell: October 1 to November 1 range
Duke: Mar 15 deadline
*Virginia: Aug 15 earliest
*Emory: Oct 1/Feb 15 deadlines
UMichigan: Mar 31 deadlines
*Berkeley: October ? Nov 30
UNC: Mar 1 deadline
Georgetown: Mar 1 deadline
*Boston college: Nov 1/Apr 1
*Rice: Oct 15/Mar 15
*Washington University: Nov 15/Apr 15

Claremont McKenna: Nov 1/Apr 7

I thought UMich was Feb 1

if you can't stand the idea of losing a 4.0 to the extent where you would actually beg to retake classes you got a B in, why do you want to go to schools that will be even harder on your GPA?

If you don't give a legitimate reason why you wish to transfer, your near perfect stats mean jack. <3
