Transfer Help?

I'll try to make this short and sweet. :]

I am currently a freshman at Syracuse University and I am planning on majoring in Classics / Women's and Gender Studies.

I want to transfer for my sophomore year. I know I will perform better academically at a liberal arts college with smaller class sizes. In no particular order:
- Mount Holyoke College
- Hamilton College
- College of the Holy Cross
- Middlebury College

From what I have been reading on College Confidential and on the schools' websites, the College of the Holy Cross seems like the best choice for my major. (Am I right?)

However, my first semester GPA at Syracuse was not so great. So, how are my chances at these schools?

Background Information: I was rejected from Middlebury ED when I applied as a freshman applicant, and waitlisted at Mount Holyoke and Hamilton.

And, is it recommended to submit my highschool SAT / ACT scores if the college does not ask for them?

I’d say your chances at Middlebury, Hamilton, and Holyoke are slim. Transfer admission is much more difficult than first-year admission (especially at small LACs), and the fact that you weren’t accepted to these schools the first time probably means you won’t be accepted the second time around. Except of course if you did very well in your first semester of college, which apparently isn’t the case. You probably have the best shot at Holy Cross. Good luck!.

Holy Cross has one of the strongest Classics departments in the nation for liberal arts colleges.
