Transfer Help

I posted this in the transfer thread, but I really need some advice. I don't have a ton of money to spare, so I'm not looking to "waste" any money on the application (i.e., if I don't get accepted). Thanks, everyone. Chances, if any?

I'm currently at a freshman at a top-100 university. I'm looking to transfer to SBU for many reasons -- better sciences, music, new environment, etc. I want to know if I have a shot of transferring in, though. My high school stats are pretty rough since I was planning to pursue music performance (GPA around 3.1 UW--thanks to music classes--1670 SAT, class rank 14/250ish) and, to be honest, I didn't care about my academics at the time. I did get into Stony Brook last fall for music performance, but I don't think my grades were much of a factor. In college now, though, I have a 3.92 GPA (after one semester) as a biochemistry and molecular biology major in the honors program. Do I have a shot? Also, would it be more effective to apply as an "undeclared" major due to my not-so-good high school record? Any advice is appreciated, guys! Thanks!

Also, I'm out-of-state, if that means anything...

With a 3.9 GPA, you absolutely will be competitive in the process. Remember, if you are transferring with fewer than 24 credits, you’ll need to submit your high school/SAT credentials as well.

And as I said in your other post – but I’ll put it here too – if you were admitted as a freshman, then your chances are probably better.
