Hi
I'm going to Loyola Marymount University this fall. Down the line I wanna attend UCLA,USC or Pepperdine. Is there any route which I can take to transfer from LMU or should I attend CC and then take a transfer. I'm really want to transfer. Would love to hear any suggestions . Thanks

All the schools you’re interested in transferring to have very different transfer requirements. I don’t know much about Pepperdine. As for USC, they have VERY specific GE requirements. They don’t necessarily need to be finished prior to transferring, but I think it improves your chances. Their GE requirements do not overlap with UCLA’s. So IMO you kinda need to focus your courses to one or the other. Plus you also have to consider that you may not get into any of those schools, so you may need to also focus on graduation requirements for LMU as well.

Your odds for UCLA are low simply because students from private CA have very low priority. Community college students have first priority, followed by other UC transfers. That leaves very few spots left.

LMU is a great school. I have tons of friends who went there and they loved it. Why do you want to transfer?

Thank you so much ! @2016Candles. I’m majoring in business and think universities like USC and Pepperdine have amazing business programs. LMU is a really good school but I believe these universities would be a better fit .I think LMU isn’t known as compared to Pepperdine… Do you think if I take similar courses, would I be able to transfer ?

Here’s the link to the USC articulation agreements.

With UCLA you’ll be flying blind a bit.

Thank you Soo much! Really appreciate your time. Btw, what would you suggest me to do. LMU and then transfer or SMC and then transfer ?

I think you should start off at LMU . On the chance that you don’t get accepted to the schools that you want to transfer to, you still have a solid schools graduate from. I’m sure a lot of people will tell you that the best way to get into UCLA is to go to a community college first, and that of course is true but even still getting into UCLA is still very difficult. There are no guarantees with any of the three schools that you mentioned. And honestly I don’t think the Pepperdine really has anything over LMU.

Ohh! I think you’re right. How would you rate LMU as a University compared to all other in the west coast ?

In order, Stanford, Berkley, UCLA, USC, LMU, Pepperdine. The Claremonts are good, but for business/ Econ I think these are the best options.

Thanks! Really appreciate it !

Oh and UC San Diego too!

Good luck with your decision.

Thanks! One more question . Is it even possible if I pick the right course, to transfer from LMU or its not even counted as an option?

What do you mean “pick the right course”?
