Hey guys, just wanted to hear what you guys have to think about my situation. I am currently going to be a junior at a state school with a business school that is ranked in the top 40 for business. My school’s reputation is not very good and is known to be a party school, but has a decent business school. I am currently majoring in finance. However, I was just accepted to major in economics and mathematics at Georgetown. This is one of the most difficult decisions I will have to make. I have a bunch of good friends at my current school and will be living in a house with 18 of my good friends, however I can’t decide whether I want to transfer to a better school to challenge myself further and gain more opportunities. Any input/thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You obviously value your current friends or you wouldn’t have lived with 18 of them and you wouldn’t have mentioned them in your decision. If you want to live in your current part of the country after you graduate, you’ll be as well off or better off to stay. Lots of state schools have reputations as party schools, but still have strong, well-recruited business schools. And if yours is that highly-regarded, it isn’t that far off from Georgetown.
