Transfer help?

Hi,

I have applied for CSM to transfer and I have received an email saying “I see you’ve already started your Transfer Application! I’m very interested in considering you for admission to Colorado School of Mines.” and the email told me to finish the application by that day (when the email was sent) which was about a month before the application was due. What does this mean? Are they actually interested in me? Or they are “just saying” this. I am confused!

Thanks!

Hello there,

I applied to CSM as a Freshman applicant last year during the 2015-16 admissions cycle. CSM really was my “dream” school, and I was honoured to be ultimately accepted. However, since I am an out-of-state applicant, the cost was just too high and I was unable to attend ultimately.

So for CSM, the admissions office is an extremely nice group of individuals, but, they are only as efficient as you make of them. To elaborate, you need to make sure your documents are sent in from your college to CSM, and you need to make sure your application is complete and sent in. Then, you need to be calling once a week (you need to be the best judge of how often to call) to ensure all of your documents are in, and stay in contact with the admissions officers to make sure that you have done whatever you are required to do. What this does is it gives the admissions office a “face” to your application, as well as demonstrates interest to CSM and commitment/dedication. Ultimately, in my experience, this led to me getting an expedited decision. Many students applied last cycle (from what I gather from reading around), and didn’t follow up on their application for months. Maybe they called once or something, but that really isn’t enough. The admissions office cannot be expected to process your application and give it a quick decision if you yourself are not putting in any effort. So do what I told you, and you’ll see how things work out.

Best wishes to you.

Well I have been contacting them frequently since May of this year. I think they definitely know me because I have sent them lots of emails with questions since May. Thank you for your info!

Then I think you’re good to go . . . . and don’t stop following up with them! You’re doing the right thing!

Thank you so much! Because of you, now I have hope

No problem. I hope it works out and please update us on your status when you (hopefully) get in.
