Transfer help

I have 3.95/4.0 GPA. I am pursuing computer engineering. Currently, I am attending community college. I am willing to transfer to a university in this spring. I applied to a lot of colleges but could get an admission in my dream college. Here’s the list of the college that I applied

  1. UIUC
  2. UIC
  3. IIT
  4. NIU
  5. PURDUE UNIVERSITY
  6. UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN, MADDISON
  7. IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY

I am an Illinois resident. I am already rejected by UIUC even though I have 3.95 GPA + 3 extra curriculum activities. UIUC is my dream college but sadly, I got a rejection. Now, I have to decide among rest of 6 colleges. I got admission letter from UIC, IIT, NIU, IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY. I still waiting for Wisconsin and Purdue. Now, can you tell me, which college is best to go for my major? I have heard from a lot of people that IIT has decent computer engineering course BUT, I am worried about high fees. Now, UIC has very reasonable fees but it does not have a high reputation like ISU, PURDUE, WISCONSIN, IIT. Now, please help me out to choose the right college for me. Should I pay high fees and go to decent college or pay fewer fees and get a bachelor degree from UIC. P.S. - I am considered as an out of state student for PURDUE, WISCONSIN, ISU.

Quick question:

What were your high school stats?

How hard would it be for you to pay the OOS tuition and fees? Can your family pay for this without any loans other than a federal student loan?

Have you spoken directly with the computer engineering department and the career placement office at UIC? The people in those places can tell you where the UIC computer engineering majors get jobs.

Attending a more expensive university does not automatically guarantee that you will get a better job or get paid more for the job you could get as a graduate of a less expensive university…

Whatever you do, make sure it is affordable and that you don’t take on too much debt. As an engineering major, if you are in an ABET accredited program, you can rest assured that you will have access to a solid degree program. Don’t worry too much about reputation, once you have had a first job, no one will care where you graduated from and companies will recruit at all the schools you list.
