I am hoping to transferr to Harvard, MIT, Yale, or Rice next year. I'm in my second year at a University. I have a 3.87 GPA. I've taken most of the basics. Freshmen English 1 and 2, Calculus 1 and 2, US History 2 semesters, Biology 1 and 2, Economics 2 semesters and so on.

The thing is I never graduated from high school. I only went two years and then moved on. I'm looking into an online program where I can use my college credits to fulfil hs requirements. I hope to get my hs diploma in June 2007. I took the SAT I when I was in 7th grade and scored 1360. I know I would do significantly better if I took them again.

My question is has anyone else taken this kind of path, and if so what were your results? Is my situation to much of a reach for these colleges.

If I were you I would talk to each of these schools individually about this. I'm not sure that you would necessarily have to fulfill their highschool requirements because you are in a unique situation. I would say that Harvard and MIT would both probably have experience with this sort of student.

Harvard/MIT/Yale are way out of your league based on the information you provided. But I'm not sure what your EC's are like, or where you're going to school. If you're at a CC with a 3.87 and no EC's, you've got no chance in the world. If you just finished two years at Princeton, its another story. Give more info.

you never graduated from highschool. i'm sorry but that alone will hold you back from the ivy's. those schools you listed only take the best of the best... and not to be mean but you don't fit that category. you could have a 4.0 at a CC, but the fact is you only did 2 years of high school...

He/She said they were at a university, not a CC. The fact that they were accepted to a uni without completing highschool would show some level of intellectual promise as does the 1360 out of 1600 while being grade 7 would as well. I wouldn't write it off. Like I said, talk to the admissions people. The no degree thing could be a problem but it might not be.

Contrary to what some of the posters have stated, you can surely try to go to another University with no high school. There have actually been write ups on that very topic in a very fair amount of different newsmedias as of late.

And, there is also no harm at all in using some of your University credits in order to try and earn a high school diploma. BYU online has a very nice Adult Diploma Program as do many other nationally recognised Universities.

I attend a major state university. I have a declared major in astrophysics. During my two years in high school I maintained an A average. When my parents moved I didn't want to go through the adjustment thing at high school so it was decided I would try college. My EC's revolve around community service. Based on what I am seeing on these boards, I am most likely weak in the EC's. BTW... The reason for considering a transfer is greater academic challenges, better course offerings, and being part of a group of some of the brightest students assembled.
