Transfer Help

Ok, so I'm in my second week at college and I really don't like it here. I know that some of it is homesickness and some of it has to do with adjusting to change, but this school is just too small for me and it's too far from home for now. So I'm thinking of transferring at the semester instead of the end of the year, and the two schools I would apply to would be Michigan State University and Grand Valley State University, which is also in Michigan. But before I do this would it look bad to schools if I transferred at the semester? Or would they maybe prefer I go to a community college and get more credits and then transfer next fall? I'm pretty sure at GVSU I'll be fine as long as I get a 2.8+ this semester since my mom works there and knows all the inside info, but I'm more concerned about MSU. So basically any info people have about transferring after a semester in college would be helpful. Thanks.

Any help here?

Not sure how much help I can be, but I feel exactly the same way as you do. Except that I'm in my third week. :(
I personally don't know about those specific schools, but from my research schools prefer you to have at least a year of college under your belt.

Some schools accept transfers after only one semester; many don't. But, if the ones you're targeting accept spring freshman transfers, I can't imagine they frown on it.

I think it can be very valuable to stick it out and not let the homesickness determine your next step,.... but it's different for everyone.

I'm going to give it some more time, I'm not making any decisions yet. One other reason I'm transferring is a money issue. I'm dropping about 25K a year where I am currently, so by the time I graduate I'll be about 40K in debt. If I transfer to GVSU, I'll be paying about 6-7K a year and about 15-16K a year at MSU, so I would end up with some money in my college account in the end if I transfer.

Well, that certainly is a consideration.
