I know theres a transfer students board, but I'm going to put this here too. I'm helping a friend not on CC ask this so...help me help her!

What are transfer rates for the Communications school, Medill, and NU in general is if one is planning to transfer from another college? The said friend is largely looking at Commuications (esp Journalism, but Com would do if its easier to get in) programs. If not, said friend can also live with WCAS --just whatever it takes to get IN :).

Also, if you are attending a school that NU would not regard as a "peer institution", does this mean that it will be harder to transfer into NU after the 1st year? Or should you transfer after the 2nd year?

It doesn’t matter which school you’re transferring from unless your GPA is shaky. Generally, you need a 3.7+, strong teacher recs, and a convincing reason why NU is for you. Having a compelling reason for transfer is absolutely key. Feel free to email me if you have any more questions. Same user name @ gmail.

i read in one of the Transfer threads that Medill is impossible to transfer into for both internal transfers and also if you’re transferring from another university. Is this true? My friend realllyy wants either Medill or the Com school…although Medill would be preferable.

I know two people who transferred into Medill from another institution. I myself am a transfer (now just finishing my sophomore year) in the school of comm, so feel free to PM me with any random questions you may have. : )

Trust me, not impossible to transfer.
