Transfer HELP!

Very important - because I have been planning on transferring to NYU after my first semester for quite some time now, but have just read in another thread that you need 30 credits before you can.. which means transferring after your first term freshman year is impossible for anyone..

other schools which I would like to know the requirements if anyone knows them.. I'll put down whatever info I got from calling them...

all help appreciated

Upenn - Dfall only no reqs
njit - Dspring transfer allowed..
vill - Dfall only no reqs
lehigh - Dfall only no reqs
uva - spring allowed
columbia - fall only no reqs
gw - spring allowed
nyu - spring allowed - 30 credits before transfer
jhu - fall only no reqs
vcu - spring allowed
adelphi - Dspring allowed
(ones marked with D are dental programs)
... no idea what to do about my situation..
I'm gonna be a freshman in september and wanna get outta there asap..
my HS GPA was a 3.5uw
SAT was 1500
SAT IIs were 760IIC, 760Chem, 660Writing
and lots of extra currics, including hospital volunteer, research in St. John's Lab, school positions and events

My plan was to apply to all these schools for spring transfer - nyu, adelphi, njit, vcu, uva, gw.. and go there for one semester and apply again to upenn, columbia, jhu, and the rest..

somebody please tell me whats up!!
I'm even confused with the application process..
like in the adelphi app they ask for college gpa from time started.. so how would I get my college to send the transcript before the first semester is even over...

mannnnnn..
I clueless with this whole transfer business

any reply will be greatly appreciated..
thanks

where are you going now?

I think that person was wrong about 30 credits for nyu.. check the nyu website before freaking out. There is no possible way to take 30 credits at your school first semester, thus they wouldn't have spring transfer as an option at nyu if that was the case.

Maybe I'm not understanding you completely, but it seems like you're trying to transfer twice..ultimately ending up at upenn, columbia, jhu, etc. I don't know how well your plan will work because it is very difficult to transfer twice. If you've already transferred after one semester, and are apply to transfer again, this tactic will look questionable to admissions counselors and it will be fairly unlikely that they will admit you (unless you have a very strong reason). If you want to attend upenn, columbia, jhu..stick it out at your current school for a bit longer and just apply to those schools after a year or so.

Um I think NYU's spring admissions are meant for those who are sophomores....not freshmen.

Don't be so desperate to get out, just go to your college with an open mind and take advantage of opportunities there that could bolster your app for next fall, especially get on friendly terms with professors. Desperate/miserable attitude = terrible GPA. Seriously.

If you loathe your college, fine, just don't go and try freshmen admissions again or go to your local CC.

i'll be going to NYIT.. and I know the school because my older brother just graduated from there.. and I completely do not want to go there..
I did plan on trasnferring twice, but would be content with my first transfer.. if the second worked it would be a bonus or something

no chance for spring admission at nyu? or those other colleges?

Pick ONE. Transfer either for sophomore or junior. Pick ONE. If you successfully transfer into a place you like, STAY there. Don't torture yourself with transfer applications for two years in a row- you'll really miss out the college experience.

i guess that makes sense..
but spring transfer is a lot harder anyway right?-- heard I don't even have a chance..

so if I don't get in anywhere I cna try all the schools for sophmore transfer...

thanks for replies pplz

yeah spring transfer for freshman is extremely difficult unless your high school stats but you in extremely strong contention on their own.

Yeah, you can try again. Like others have mentioned before, without any college work to go on, I'm not sure your qualify for a spring transfer.
