hey everyone,
I am currently a freshman at DePaul University. I'm looking to transfer to UChicago, Northwestern, or UIUC. Here are my high school stats...

Attended Deerfield High School
ACT:27
GPA: 4.8/5 weighted
Rank: top 30-40%
EC's: minority club(2 years, founding father), F.I.R.S.T. Robotics(senior year, programming), band(8 years, drums), earthworks(senior), computer club(fresh, soph, junior)
AP's: Calc AB, Micro Econ, Macro Econ, Chem, Comp Sci

I am anticipating a 4.0 this semester. I have not been too active in the school. I'm only in one club (SASA- South Asian Student Association), but this is because I have been putting a lot of hours into my job at Best Buy where i am a personal shopping assistant (PSA). Do I have a chance at any of these schools? Would it be better if i waited till the end of sophmore year?
Thanks in advance...

UIUC likes students who transfer in as a junior. They have very few spots for sophomore transfers. The others I think don't care as much, but they're all good schools.

thanks bullseye... but do i have a chance at any of these schools?

I think you have shot at UIUC, depending on what your major is, engineering is traditionally very hard. I think you're ACT might be a little too low for the other two. If you keep your grades up though, I think you have a great shot. Just make sure you really want to transfer out, and make sure you have a good reason, for U of C and NU. UIUC won't care as long as you have the numbers, meaning grades, and your ACT is fine for U of I. Your class rank wasn't too high. All you can do at this point is maybe take the ACT again, and get good grades. That will give you the best of chances. Also, visiting can't hurt.

would taking the ACT again help? im pretty sure i could get a 30+... but since im not in high school anymore would it even help? I'm thinking i should be okay for UIUC, but UChicago and Northwestern are the schools I am worried about. Is there anything else i can do to improve my chances for those schools?
