Transfer Hopeful

I am a senior, and NYU has been a top choice of mine since I was a freshman. However, I feel I am a bit below NYU's level academically. However, I feel I would be a great fit for the film program at Tisch, and I am confident I would seriously excel in it.

However, because of how competitive it is to get in, I applied into CAS for my freshman year, which most likely was a mistake, seeing that the main chance I would have at getting in is my skills with video anyway.

I have not yet heard back, but I am just about 99% sure it will be a no. Therefore, I am already planning my application and portfolio as a transfer into Tisch for my sophomore year, most likely coming from UConn, where I will be taking core/digital media classes.

My question is, does anyone have any advice to increase my chances as a transfer this fall? i.e. retaking SATs, job internships, etc.

Here are some of my stats:
SAT Math: 580
SAT Reading: 590
SAT Writing: 640

Cumulative GPA: 3.5 Weighted. Killed by my freshman year, my last year was a 3.9 weighted, and same for my senior year thus far.

APs: AP Language Comp., AP Psychology, UCONN Physics, College Level Astronomy and Macroeconomics at my local community college.

Pretty well involved in EC's at my school. Captain of Track and Cross Country, class leader, etc.

Tisch will care mostly about your portfolio, not so much your SATs or GPA.

Any more advice? Please?

I don’t see why it will automatically be a no if you haven’t heard back yet? COME ON MAN or GIRL, HAVE SOME CONFIDENCE!!!

My friend got waitlisted at Tisch as a freshman applicant. I’m applying as transfer and I feel like I’ll be waiting for my decision for a while.

Also, you know, you can look at other schools, too. USC has a great film program! Only their supplements are due crazy early and have a lot of writing! December 1st - missed the deadline. Tisch is a great program, but there are so many other good ones as well!

Good luck, though! I hope you get in and it turns out to be everything you’ve ever wanted~
