Transfer Housing?

Where do most transfers live? Would I be sharing a double with another transfer most likely, or do they put most transfers in singles? The housing website is pretty vague, saying that they try to house transfers near each other, does anyone know how this actually plays out? Thanks.

They are literally everywhere, but clustered in a few areas. Housing isn't great though.

I talked to some transfers, and apparently their housing is about as good as a typical sophomore's. Housing can be good, but not that much for sophomores and transfers.

god. sophomore housing BITES. i'm in a schapiro closet. o well, at least i like the people around me.

Schapiro really doesn't seem that bad, what do you dislike about it? Furnald is my first choice but an iceberg has a better shot in hell than me getting in to Furnald. Schapiro's my second choice and Wien is my last choice...I'll probably end up in Wien. I just want a single. Don't care where.

You know, for as bad as "the worst" Columbia housing may seem to people (Wien, McBain, and others), I am actually very impressed that Columbia provides four full years of guaranteed housing; even transfers are guaranteed a Columbia-sponsored dorm room for as long as it reasonably takes them to graduate. At many peer colleges this isn't the case, even though the vast majority of students will get on-campus housing anyway. NYC real estate is very steep, so I suppose that could be the reason.

Oh I love Schapiro the building. I meant that I'm in one of those tiny doubles that are less than 165 square feet, and coming out of being spoiled as a freshman, it bites. Are you a sophomore transfer from another school Layla, or are you just doing a summer transfer?

Transferring from another school...if my parents pay.
