For those transferring to UNC, have you received your housing assignment yet? Is it true that sophmores were placed in Odom and juniors in Rams Village? Who decided to live in Granville instead?

i know of one transfer sophomore that got put in odum. other than that, i don't know. however, i know a guy that transferred in the year before (as a junior) and he was put in craige. housing at unc is all screwed up right now.

I was put in Odum originally, but I requested a roommate in Ehringhaus so I am there now. But I am a soph, so it would seem sophs go to odum

lots of them are in granville

I found out my housing assignment about two weeks ago...a lot earlier than I expected. I am junior transfer and got placed in Ram Village.

I actually know a freshman who was put in odum village.

I haven't heard anything from housing yet. Should I call or is this normal?

While at orientation on Monday, the housing person said that about 75% of transfer students have received their housing assignments. Have you checked on the housing site to see if your assignment is there? My daughter has not received an email or letter, she found out her room on the housing site.

Ok, I found out on the housing site. That's a relief. Thanks

KJ-Where did you get placed? Are you a sophomore or junior?

I was placed into Ehringhaus South. I'm a sophomore transfer.

lbd- Did you request Ehringhaus South? That is great that as a sophomore you got that over Odum. Is your roomate also a transfer?

Well, my roommate story is a little complicated as we requested one another (she is also a sophomore transfer) but were not placed together initially, with me being assigned to Craige. I called housing and asked if there was any way for us to be put together after all, and it worked out, thankfully. I am not sure why I was not put into Odum at all, I thought this was sort of a disadvantage seeing that so many other transfers are there - do you know anything about Ehringhaus South that seemingly makes it a better place to be over Odum?

I'm a junior assigned to Odum. I think my roommate is also a junior transfer

There are advantages and disadvantages to each location, but if I were a student I would rather be in Ehringhaus South (of course as a parent, I don't get a vote!!)

Odum is a bit removed from the rest of campus, but your would have an apartment. Ehringhaus South is newer and air conditioned (Odum also has A/C) and is in the heart of south campus. You will be among tons of freshman who also are new to campus and might be more willing to make new friends. Either way, I am sure you will be happy. Having a transfer roomate will help! If your suitemates are current students you will have the best of both worlds!
