I was wondering if any current Georgetown students could tell me about housing for transfer students. I was just accepted as a sophomore transfer for next year and was wondering things like:
Which buildings are we generally assigned to and do they usually group transfer students together
and basically am I going to be screwed in terms of getting a good place?

Also does anyone have a link to pictures of the different types of rooms available

Hi,
Sophmore transfers usually are places in sophmore/uperclass dorms. Returning students have already chosen their housing for next year, so unfortunately, they basically place transfers in whatever spots everyone else didn't want. Since LXR and Village C East are less-popular dorms, most sophmore transfers tend to be placed there. I had a really bad housing pick for my sophmore year, and lived on the ground floor of LXR, and my floor was almost all transfers. LXR is a typical dorm setup- coed floors, communal showers and bathrooms, but the rooms are a little bigger. It's also part of "East Campus," which is technically off-campus since it is outside of the front gates. This gives it a little more of an independent, off-campus feel, and is much closer to the shopping and Restaurants on M and Wisconsin. :-)
Village C East has the advantage of being right on campus, so it is much closer to the gym, most of your classes, the library, and the dining hall. The room sizes vary greatly, but most of the rooms are pretty small. The upside is that each room has its own private bathroom with shower/tub.

Lucky sophmore transfers and most junior transfers get placed in open spots in on-campus apartments with other transfers or returning students who have extra spaces in their apartment. For example, right now, the on-campus apartment I'm in for next year has either 2 or 3 open spaces, which will most likely be filled by junior transfers.

You don't really get a choice in where you're put (unless you have a religious/medical waiver), and as far as I know, transfer roommates are assigned more-or-less randomly.

Good luck though!
