I posted this in the transfer forum also.
My daughter didn't apply to UVa last year, but she did apply to VaTech and was not accepted. It was a little bit of a surprise because I'm a Hokie grad. Her SAT was only 1200 and GPA was a 3.5. She was however, extremely involved in high school (lots of leadership positions and community service) and is also very involved at the University of Maryland now. She made the Dean's List (has a 3.65 gpa) in the fall and wants to transfer back to Virginia at either UVa, VaTech or William & Mary. Will her EC's help the fact that she didn't have a good SAT score or excellent gpa? And is her current gpa high enough to get her in? She wants to major in Political Science and says she can get some very good recommendations.

Anyone? Please...

She wasnt accepted to Virginia Tech?!?...How is that? Im from Maryland--with a 1120 SAT 600M 520v applied EXTREMELY LATE even during RD and was accepted into the College of Engineering. I also was involved in a LOT of activities in High School and had a 3.81 GPA. Tech places a LOT of importance on GPA...seemingly moreso than SAT. Also, UMD is a tougher school to be accepted to than VT...how did that happen?
