Hello everyone! I'm supposed to be a sophomore majoring in musical theatre at Cal State Fullerton, but due to a medical emergency (two protruding discs in my back) I was forced to withdraw from the university. As of right now, my plan is to take some GE classes at community college this January and return to CSUF in fall 2009.

After taking some time away from the hectic process of jurying into the BFA Musical Theatre program at CSUF, I've come to realize that I am most valuable as a singing actor, not the true triple threat that the university is trying to mold me into. I have extensive music experience and knowledge, and I'm looking at transferring to a BM program that will allow me to prepare for a career as a singing actor.

Here's where I need some help: If I were to transfer, I would be starting at a new university in Spring 2010. I would love to find a good BM Music Theatre program, but a BM in Vocal Performance would be just fine with me as long as the school offers the chance to perform musical theatre material/shows. I prefer a more urban atmosphere, and bountiful scholarship opportunities are also crucial. Two schools at the top of my list are NYU Steinhardt and San Francisco Conservatory (the latter is mostly for the convenience factor- I'm from the SF Bay Area). Anybody else have suggestions or info about these schools?
