what are my chances coming from SUNY New Paltz as a freshman 3.77 college GPA
3.0 HS GPA
1860 SAT

Before considering a transfer, make sure your reasons for transferring are valid. If you really dislike New Paltz, try to assess your reasons and consider whether it’s your fault, or really the school’s. If your unhappiness at New Paltz is affecting your GPA, then maybe it is time for a change of scenery. On the other hand, if it’s simply you wanting better parties or to be reunited with friends/a significant other, I’d recommend thinking things over. However, to be honest, transferring during your undergraduate years hardly matters. The possibility of losing credits is not worth your time and money. If you do go to Binghamton, you’ll be adjusting to the life, one that’s not guaranteed to make you happy. Like I said before, think about your choice again.

As for your chances, considering your HS GPA/SAT and your minimal college credits, probably around 15, they’ll still weigh your high school credentials above your college. If transferring’s what you really want, I say wait another semester or two.

I’m actually transferring to Bing from New Paltz for the Spring semester. I applied for the Fall last year with a 3.56 and was waitlisted, then rejected.

You might or might not have a solid chance, because your stats are better than mine, but I know for a fact that it’s tougher to get in when applying for the Fall semester.

And as for me, I felt that I’d be happier elsewhere. Nothing really against NP, I just wasn’t feeling it. And I feel that thats a huge factor too.
Best of luck!

@SJmoon what were your high school grades and SAt’s like?
