Transfer into Business (Help appreciated!)

Why don’t you call the dean’s office and ask? How can you trust this kind of info coming from an anonymous forum?

Well now that this semesters over, I’m kinda worried. Hen chem grades haven’t come out yet but I got 2 Bs, C and C+…i could explain but I think I already stated why and it’s lengthy anyway. Point is now, will I still be able to transfer into business since they look at my grades?

Also how is cumulative gpa calculated? I had a 3.37 last semester and it said I have a 2.30 this semester, without gen Chem but I think I’ll get a B, and it said 3.14 cumulative.

Wait nvm, one of those Bs is actually an A-

Stop worrying, Shawn. You’ll probably be fine.

Cumulative GPA is sum of GPA per credit taken (summed over all credits)…

So if you have 5 semester 1 grades, and 3 semester 2 grades, each of 3 units (for example), then in your cumulative GPA is 5/8GPA Sem 1 + 3/8GPA Sem 2

Or just add all 8 gpa (one per course) and divide by 8.

Even if you have a grade for a course, GPA is only updated the following morning.

DarkKnight, I hope you do know that you don’t “apply” to transfer to another one of the divisions when you’re already at Wash U. What are they going to make you do - stay in Engineering where you are not happy and earning grades you don’t want? There are tons of people that transfer out of EN and into ArtSci or Business. Talk to your advisor, fill out the form, and then like a few days later you’re into Olin. It’s not a transfer process where you apply and it’s not hard.

There actually is a process. I know people who’ve been denied transfers.
To be fair, their grades were probation-level.

When you’ve got the grades DarkKnight has, it’s pretty automatic though.

Johnson, what do you mean by probation level?

You’re not even remotely close.

Essentially you need to have below a 2.0 gpa (for the semester or cumulative).
There’s some weird 2 F’s/ an F and a D policy, but I’ve never looked that closely into it.

stop freaking out.

Engineering obviously is not for you.

You will not have any trouble transferring into Olin.

Figure out what you like about business starting now and over the summer.

Stop complaining on here.
