<p>I'm at an out of state community college and was looking into transferring to UW. I want to go into mechanical engineering or engineering mechanics. I saw on the website that the minimum gpa to transfer is 3.0, but I'm assuming you need higher. Does anyone know how tough it is to transfer into the engineering program and know what the average transfer gpa is? Thanks</p>
<p>Check the UW website regarding transfers and reqs. My brief look at the Eng dept in the UW catalog indicates that they can limit the number of students in any major so as to ensure adequate facilities for those students- this means getting in depends on how many other students with better grades et al want your major as well as meeting the minimum requirements. I would email the dept and ask them questions, such as the typical minimum gpa currently needed. You may be surprised at how helpful people can be in answering your questions.</p>
