I will be starting at WVU this fall, and im looking to transfer into Harvard or MIT as soon as i can, I'm a math major.

I recieved a 34 on my ACT and took the SAT subject tests for Math I, Math II, and physics, and recieved a 710, 720, and 730. my High School cumulative GPA, was a 3.7, but i will have a 4.0 for WVU.

What do you think are my chances of transfering into either MIT or Harvard.

Harvard no longer accepts transfer students, but you could still attempt to transfer into MIT.

Transfer acceptances are very slim (harder than freshman acceptance rates, I believe), so it’s highly unlikely. However, there is still a possibility, so apply as a transfer student to MIT if you want to and see what happens.

The top schools that take transfers look at ECs, not just grades, so don’t think that a 4.0 will make you a shoo-in for any of the top schools. Having excellent grades is only part of what’s needed. It is true that Harvard isn’t taking transfers.

I don’t think it’s a recipe for a great college experience to begin college at one place solely for the purpose of being able to leave it. I’d recommend that you throw yourself into WVU life with all the enthusiasm you can and see if you still want to leave it in the spring.
