Transfer into McCombs

Will they still accept transfers who don't have ALL the business indicator courses? Or do you need all of them for them to consider you? By the time I transfer I will have everything but Calculus II. Will that be fine? I keep hearing different things. Thanks.

You have to have completed ALL the business indicator courses. Before 2009, you only needed to complete 2 out of the 4. But after 2009, they made the switch and now require you to complete all of the indicator courses.

Asevenc, where are you transferring from? GPA? I want to transfer too, and I’d like to learn about others.
I’ve talked to them, and they said you MUST have all of the indicator courses BEFORE June 1. I’ve done Calc and Econ 1, and I’m doing Calc and Econ 2 in the spring. You just send off your spring courses in Mid May, and wait a couple of weeks.

So if I were you, I’d make it a priority to finish them all before June 1

JammyD,
I’m transferring from Baylor. I’m starting to lean more towards the College of Communications now though since I’m going to be missing Calc. II. (then possibly do an internal transfer to McCombs, not sure yet). My GPA by Spring will (probably) be ~3.6.

yea internal transferring is easier. 67% acceptance rate and 3.4 GPA cutoff i think, versus ~18% external transfer acceptance rate with like 3.9 GPA cutoff

When I was transferring for the Fall 2009 semester, they told me I needed to have most of them completed but if one or two of them weren’t, it was okay, although you would less competent. As topwala said, if they have changed the requirement now, you might better off transfer to another school within UT, get your basics out of the way and internally transfer. Or you could spend another year at your college, get most basics done, and then transfer externally. BUT if your GPA is low by the end of those two years, you’re chances will also be very low if you go with the second option. It’s a bigger risk.

My daughter is a current UT freshman (technically sophomore with 31 hours) and finished her first semester with a 4.0 GPA. She changed her major from psychology to economics but hopes to get in to McCombs. This spring she will take Cal M408K and Eco 304K, she already has Eco 304L. All she will be lacking is the Cal M408L to apply. She is considering that as a summer course through the local CC. My question is, what else can/should she do to really be considered? I’m assuming applications are in the spring, for fall admission. Is that correct? What else do we need to know about the process?

Thanks!

I’m going to be transfering as well, internal looking to double major with econ, my freshman gpa will be between 3.5-3.67, had a tough time adjusting first semester, but confident that I can turn it around.

GPA wise, your daughter sounds like a shoe in. The only problem is that they are strict about the indicator courses as of last year. I know quite a few people with high GPA’s who were rejected because they were missing an indicator course.

Try to take that last course at a CC before the summer. If not she can apply her junior year.
