I got accepted to the Aerospace Engineering program in Cal Poly SLO this Spring 2011.

Finished with all my core classes (physics, engineering, math), I decided to list 5 GE classes that I planned on taking this past fall 2010. The issue is I wasn’t able to land a spot in one of the classes, Spanish 1, due to the class surprisingly filling up faster than expected. So, I went ahead and went through the semester with only 4 of the 5 classes I listed as “planned” to take.

Fast forward to yesterday:

I called the admissions and told them about this issue. They said I should mail them a final transcript (the In-progress transcript was already received) and they will hold a SECOND REVIEW on my application. They said they would possibly submit it to the assistant dean(?) and my admittance can POSSIBLY be overturned.

TLDR: accepted to aerospace engineering spring 2011. Didn’t take a planned class (Spanish 1). Possible overturn of admission.

QUESTION:

Will they overturn my admission for failing to take a class I listed (I only planned on taking for widen my colleges to UC’s) and which has nothing to do with my major AT ALL? I don’t want to waste a semester of my life :x

Thanks for reading and sorry for the essay (not proofread).

I highly doubt they would reverse your acceptance based on a class that is completely unrelated to your major. Thank your lucky stars it wasn’t an engineering class you weren’t able to get into. Let us know how it turns out!

I have no idea if they will overturn your admittance, but I certainly hope not. If you were able to get into Aero engineering, you must have some very good grades! I hope they decide soon so you can relax and get ready for starting at CPSLO. Best of luck and please post what they decide.

after I submitted my final transcript last december they emailed me back on the first week of January saying they DID DO A RE-EVALUATION of my admittance for failing to list SPANISH 1… but still accepted me in their engineering program! WOOO. I was so stoked! hehe.

Those two weeks from the transcript to the decision was nerve-racking!

Great news! What an amazing time of year to start in SLO! You will love the energy and the “happy” people who are out enjoying the sun. (on the way to tough classes of course!) Congratulations!
