I am applying/have essentially finished applying to transfer to CH from Elon as a sophomore.

That being said, please do not judge me on what will be explained below.

I found it odd that nothing on the instructions for the application or the actual application said anything about needing a teacher rec or rec from my academic advisor. There was also nothing on the "downloadable forms" page regarding forms for transfers to hand off to school faculty. This was months ago, and I suppose I just told myself that it wasn't necessary and pushed it from my frontal lobe.

Days before the application is due, I'm still not certain this is the case. It's Friday evening now, so I don't think I can call the admissions office to see. Yes, I recognize this should have been done A LONG time ago.

To transfers or anyone who may know- did we need a letter from a teacher and academic advisor?

it wasn't necessary although they would consider it if you turned it in. i went to transfer day and this came from the head of admission's mouth.

Citymiddle, thank you very much. I will probably ask for one to be sent, which will surely be sent after the deadline and if they consider it then great. It is very out of character for me to have waited this long to look into something so important, so thank goodness for you!

My son transferred into CH this year and also kinda put off reading the whole app. He didn't send in a rec. as he hated to ask someone to do it last minute/with little notice. He was accepted without it. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I don't think it is too late to ask for rec letters from advisers or teachers. I write them for my students transferring from community college to UNC and sent one off to UNC just a few weeks ago. Personally, I don't think most faculty at a college would mind (I certainly don't). Explain how you were confused and apologize for the late request. Be sure to provide the faculty with your resume and a detailed update on what you have done while at Elon. If you get a "no" from your first request, ask another. It probably won't hurt that you don't have one but it could add a bit if you do.
