Transfer Major Req

So I’m intending to tranfer to CPSLO as an Economics Major this upcoming Fall 2018 year.
I will have finished my IGETC by Summer of 2018 so by the time I transfer it will already be completed.

I have already finished the important major courses for Economics as listed by the site
https://admissions.calpoly.edu/econa.html

During Fall of 2018 I’ll have applied to CPSLO while finishing up my Major Pre Req.
My schedule is pretty tight but I’ll have all the required courses except I’ll be missing 1 Major Pre Req which is MATH-104 or Differential Equations which will be taken Spring. I could take MATH-104 during Fall of 2018 but ill be burdened with 5 courses, 2 of which are Calc (103, 101C) classes. Does the 1 Major Pre Req weigh heavily if I do not have it completed by Fall 2018 when I apply? My last pre req class is in the Spring and people having been saying that all required major courses and IGETC need to be finished before I apply.

Are you sure they allow you to transfer if you plan on having the courses finished by Summer? I thought I read that you MUST have the courses done by Spring of prior year, not Summer.

Agree with @AstroRogers that you need to have all transfer requirements completed by Spring not Summer and if all are completed by Fall then that also increases your chances.

Hey @Gumbymom I’ve seen you in a lot of the Cal Poly threads. I was wondering what you think about my profile? I plan on graduating form my CC this Spring.

Major: Psychology
Current College: Folsom Lake College
IGETC: Done
Major prep: All is done, just finishing up Political Science and other GE to fill for graduation.
GPA: 3.44
EC’s: Work 15+ hrs/week & Volunteering, also apart of Student Activities Club on campus, holding a position in the club.
In-state: El Dorado County

All my Golden Fours are done as well. Just taking Political Science (for graduation), Sociology (just extra credits), Group Communications (again, extra credits) and Student Government Leadership Class (goes along with involvement with my club). What do you think?

SLO target projections for Freshman and Transfers, just to give applicants an idea of the competitiveness of each major.

Woah, those numbers are scary. Never would have guessed psychology was such a hard major to get accepted to at Cal Poly. If you’re not a transfer from Cuesta or Hancock, you probably need near GPA perfection.

@CopperlineX2, selectivity only tells part of the story. A major that lets more applicants in, like Aerospace for example, might have a stronger pool of applicants, and could thus be a more difficult admit.

It just doesn’t look like they let many psych transfers in. It’s such a common undergrad major, seems like they could fill the entire transfer class with preferred Cuesta and Hancock kids.
