Does Northeastern University and Boston University offer merit scholarships for transfer students?
Thanks :)>-
What does their website say?
Many schools don’t give much to transfers.
I think BU offers some for students transferring from a certain CC.
I would be transferring from a four year university. Their websites, unlike other schools that I am applying to, don’t specify any transfer scholarships :-/ . I am just wondering if anyone has received any merit from these schools as a transfer. One of these schools gave me 20k in merit aid when I applied in high school, if that makes a difference. @mom2collegekids
Looks like all other merit scholarships are for incoming freshman. Northeastern now meets 100% demonstrated need. Are you eligible for need based financial aid? Did you run the net price calculator?

No, usually that doesn’t matter. That ship has sailed. They wanted your high school stats to report for incoming freshman. Transfers don’t really matter much.
My parents earn enough money to probably not qualify for financial aid, but don’t have the sufficient amount to pay the high tuition price. So Im in a bit of a dilemma :-S @sybbie719
Can your parents afford your current school? If so, stay there.
How much does your current school cost? How much does it cost your parents?
@mom2collegekids I didn’t even sent in my SAT scores and my school did not have a translatable GPA out of 4.0, so if it is how you say then I don’t know why they gave me that scholarship in the first place.
BU is highly unlikely to offer merit aid. As already mentioned, they won’t benefit from reporting your stats in their yearly figures, and BU a) loves high income families they think can pay full freight and b) if all they offered you was 20K as an incoming freshman, they weren’t that incentivized to have you attend. Generally merit aid for transfers is rare, and BU is already a school that offers scant merit aid for incoming freshman (the group they are most incentivized to court for stat reasons).

Sounds like the award was a grant.
Are you a URM?
Why didn’t you go there as a freshman>
It does not matter, as it is all water under the bridge. the 2 schools that op is looking at has very little if any merit money for transfers (so small amounts reserved for students coming from CC). IF OP is bent on transferring for whatever reason. s/he must sit down with his/her parents and come up with schools that are affordable options
@mom2collegekids no, i received deans scholarship… I took BU off my list so Im only looking at NEU plus some other schools.
@greenpotatoe Sounds like you got the Presidential Scholarship which is $20k per year… I don’t see a Dean’s Scholarship except for the med school.
Why didn’t you go to BU when offered that money?
Where are you attending now? How much does that school cost? And why do you want to transfer?
Will your parents pay more money for a new school than they’re paying now? If so, how much more will they pay if you transfer?
@mom2collegekids NEU gave me the scholarship not BU. It was actually a 15k deans scholarship and an additional 5k for engineering I think. I wanna transfer cause I realized a big city is more suited for my lifestyle. With a scholarship of like 15 or 20k at the schools Im applying, tuition would be about the same for what it is now. What also attracts me about NEU is that I can maybe also help my parents with tuition with money from co-op but idk how much they really make.
Well, in case transferring is not affordable, please don’t cut ties with your current school. Continue to sign up for classes. Often transfers dont’ receive aid pkgs until summer.
