Hello. I am wondering if a teacher assistant can fill in the mid-term report for a class rather than a professor. I would prefer if all of my professors didn't know I was transferring for the rest of the semester. Plus, TA's do the grading so they know my work more anyways.

I don’t think so, but I’m not sure. On the website, it says “Mid-Term Report from instructors whose courses you are enrolled in at the time you file your application.” However, you can email columbia at ugrad-transfer@columbia.edu They responded to a separate question I had fairly quickly. Why do you want your professors to know you are transferring? I don’t think it will affect you negatively if you give an explanation. More likely, they’ll simply be sad that you want to leave.

I do not want my professors to know I am transferring because I may be asking them for research opportunities over the summer. I will probably have to ask them anyways though.

Actually, that’s not true. I’m applying this year as a transfer and called Columbia’s transfer to make sure, and the representative there said that it doesn’t matter whether the person writing and signing off your grade on the form is your TA or your professor.

By the way, is there an exact deadline as to when the midterm report is due?

I have a quick question,

do we students submit the mid-term report? if so, what do we put as returning address?

thank you very much!

Anyone have an answer to the above question? ^^

we submit it! and I was told to put my current mailing address… just in case you’re still unsure, give admissions a call, they are super helpful!
