Transfer no longer interested in major

Hi, I am transferring to UCB with Psychology, but I am no longer interested in it. I was wondering if I will be able to change my major once I get in, or would I be able to get my undergrad in Psych and then start a new major there?

Have you completed the prerequisites to declare some other major? Transfer students must declare a major before the beginning of their second semester at Berkeley.

If not, you could in theory declare psychology, complete the prerequisites for another major (though you would also likely have to take some psychology courses as a psychology major), then change major, assuming that you can get the needed approvals and will be able to complete the major before hitting the unit ceiling.

many of my friends graduated from UCB with an Art History major because i don’t think they had completed any prereqs? well, i did not see any listed on assist.org. if you have another major in mind, check out summer session and just start counting up graduation unit requirements and figure out if you can swing it. should be okay to switch majors to a non impacted major, but i don’t know how it would work if you wanted to try for an impacted one. i am taking two classes this summer. or check out art history. i dunno. good luck!
