Transfer; Notified accepted for first major, How can I switch to alternate?

The notification said I was accepted to my first choice (which was Comparative Lit), but I want to major in my alternate, Anthropology. . Both majors are in the CHASS. I don’t think I’m missing any prereqs for anthro. Can I switch? If so, how do I do it?I have not done my SIR yet. Thank you.

You need to SIR first, attend orientation and talk to an advisor and then follow the instructions below:

New students may change their major from that indicated on the application for admission by filing a petition for change of major in the Undergraduate Admission’s Office prior to the end of the third week of their first quarter. If, after you arrive at UCR and realize you have chosen the wrong major, don’t despair! Just file a Change of Major Petition available here or at the Student Academic Affairs office of the proposed major.

Is this the same process for transfer students? I have to commit to attend UCR before I know if they will let me major in my alternate choice?

Can you call a CHASS advisor to confirm? I would assume if you have all pre-req’s done for that major, you should be able to switch. Anthropology is not an impacted major, but call just in case.

Thanks, friend. I didn’t know there was a CHASS advisor.

There are several CHASS advisors. The number I posted is for the CHASS main office whom could forward you to an advisor.
