Ok so I want to get accepted into ucla but idk what my chances are. Also, I just want to see what options I have available to me since I have a 3.8 gpa in community college. Anyone who has been in this situation, I would appreciate help of any kind. All I kno is that I am really dedicated to school and I want to see what kind of schools will accept me.

From what I know a 3.8 in Community College should give you a good shot at almost any college you wish to apply to. That said you might consider bulking up your extra curriculars and thinking about letters of recommendations.

I am not sure if you are from CA but in CA we have the TAG program. As long as you fufill the IGETC you are guaranteed admissions to many of the UC’s as long you keep your GPA above a specified number, usually 3.0 or 3.2. However UCLA and Berkeley are not part of that program because of the amount of applicants and the competition to get in.

Really? Any college? I mean I know it’s good and all but I’m not talking about ivy league cos we all know those schools are practically impossible to transfer into…I just don’t want to settle you know? Like if in going to apply to schools…I’m going to choose the one that is the most competitive

I’m applying right now and if I had a 3.8 I would probably have been accepted to all my schools depending on space for transfers.

I know it’s grad school but I know someone who just got into Columbia grad school with about 3.7 and tons of experience. So it is possible.

You have not mentioned any schools of interest other than ucla but I would guess you are looking prestigious schools in socal. Other schools I can think of are USC and occidental.

Oh yea I’m sorry, I guess I should mention I’m in Austin Texas. The only reason I say that I want to go to UCLA is because I’m originally from California and that was always my dream school. But I really am looking at UT Austin, Rice, U of Houston, Baylor, and Tx A&M for the instate schools. And out of state schools I’m looking at UCLA, USC, UC San Diego, UNC chapel hill, and maybe Duke and possibly I might just apply to an ivy just to test the waters you know? But I do realize that out of state admissions is very selective and that’s why I am very nervous about applying to out of state universities

That sounds like a great list of schools. I can definitely see you getting into some of those schools and others may be reach schools.

I know from my perspective (I live in socal), I am transferring to a private school. I have pretty much lost faith in the fact that the tuition at public universities is going to keep skyrocketing every year. Not only that but I think I can get a better (work)experience from some of my privates that UCSB could have ever offered.

What would you say are reach schools? That’s really what I was trying to find out, like what schools Are in my range and what schools are outta my league
