Syracuse freshman here.
Not sure if i want to transfer yet but keeping the options open, Syracuse isnt what i thought it would be. I have formulated a list and want to know what you guys think in terms of probability.
HS GPA: 3.2- rose gradually but was low due to an ailing family member fr, and so years which i explained in my interviews, essay
Leadership, captain of sports teams, peer ministry, student council, italian club, tons of ECs, 2 varsity sports, frehsman, JV sports
COllege GPA: 3.6 soo far, anticipate a little better next semester, possibly joining a frat
List
Providence College(hometown)
Boston College
Brown(reach i know)
UMich
UNC
Fairfield
Villanova

Out of your list I would honestly only apply to:

I recommend looking into Boston, Fordham, and Northeastern.

If you were to wait a year and apply as a junior transfer than most of the other schools become high matches/low reaches with the exception of Brown.

Waiting makes that much of a difference? And which Boston schools? I have a long list of alumni at BC and PC

I just really can not bare to be at Syracuse another year after this semester. Its nothing i expected and i cant function here its soo depressing

If you could wait another year to transfer, and your grades continued to improve, you would have other options.

However, since you really are unhappy at Syracuse, you had best get on with those transfer applications. If none of the places on your list are dead-on safety schools, then you also should be thinking about your Plan B in case you don’t get in anywhere affordable. Will you transfer home to a Community College (if you haven’t started second semester at Syracuse yet, that might even be an option for this semester)? Will you take a year (or more) off so that you can work and re-consider your transfer list?

Wishing you all the best!
