My parents decided that I should stay in state for my first year to save some money and reaudition for schools during the year. I started to to fill out some applications and came to a weird question that I need some advice on. While I will be getting some of my Gen Ed credits out of the way this year, I won't be a BFA Theater or Musical theater student. As I won't be getting any of those credits, should I apply to schools as a Tranfer or as a Freshman?

At most schools you will not have a choice… as far as university admissions go you will be a transfer student and will be required to apply as a transfer. You will then need to look at the “rules” for each theatre program… some will require you to complete four years in their theatre program… others may allow you to complete their program in 3 - 3.5 years. Some programs require transfers to audition at a separate date, others will see all auditionees on the same dates, regardless of freshman or transfer admit status.

It will be important for you to explore each school’s policies.
