Transfer or stay another year? 71 units.

Hi guys, I go to a community college and currently in my last semester before I can transfer. I applied to transfer in Fall 2018, for Computer Science but I couldn’t get a class I told the UC/CSU I would take. Therefore, my decisions were rescinded. After Spring 2018, I would have 71 transferable units. I know most CSU only will accept up to 70 units of transferable units for all major. I think UCs are also the same.

My problem is, I really want to go to a UC. I know I’ll have a better chance in getting in from a CC than a CSU. So, I don’t know if I should:

  1. Transfer to a CSU in Spring 2019 and try to transfer to a UC from there.
  2. Will UCs only accept 70 units too? If so, does it make sense to transfer to CSU first?
  3. Wait until Fall 2019 (that's a very long time, I can't take any classes in the mean time because I'm at 70 units already)

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Why didn’t you take the class at UC? Worst decision.

Reread the transfer application information carefully. Contact them to clarify anything you don’t understand, and get the explanation in writing.

Sometimes students with more than ZZ credits are strictly barred from applying. However that situation is rare. It is much more likely that the number of credits you have taken don’t particularly matter, just that only XX credits can be applied directly to your degree program. It also is probable that specific courses over that XX figure can be used to fulfill specific requirements so that you can take higher level classes or other electives in order to meet the total number of credits required to graduate.

If you were rescinded because of one missing class, then just take that class and reapply. You might be able to get in for spring. Enjoy the low stress semester or year.
