So currently i’m at a respectable Texas university(A) and considering transferring to a more respectable university(B). I’m trying to get other peoples advice and what a better place than the internet!
Conditions:
i messed up my two years and currently i’m in the 6th semester and will have a gpa of 2.6, taking into consideration that i have taken 65 hours. After my 4th year, i will have a 3.0 GPA and hopefully be able to transfer to university B or i could stay at my current university. My plan for each route is to finish computer engineering and have a double in software and have a minor in math or physics.
should i stay in the same school so i could minimize my degree time? or should i transfer and get a higher GPA and start clean but with one more year maybe? that means i’ll graduate at 23.
You will have too many credits by the fourth year. The window for transferring is 60-70 semester units. Not to mention, making a change at this point might force you to get accustom to a completely new environment. Sticking to what is familiar for now will likely make turning that GPA around much easier.
Aunt Bea is correct in the main point that they were making. Transfer students arrive at their new schools with a fresh university GPA. This means that the GPA that the new university will recognize will restart. HOWEVER, the overall GPA of the student, which is the GPA that is documented and factored into their future ventures is their overall GPA, which includes the grades from ALL college level coursework ever taken.
