I'm currently at Baylor University in Waco - looking at getting my bachelor's in finance right now. I've been pondering about going to law school for some time...yet I'm in a really difficult situation.

Since BU is so expensive...if I stay here for 4 years(i'm a freshman now), I won't be able to afford any law school. But, if I transfer to a public school, say for example University of Texas at Arlington/Tyler/Dallas, I would be able to help afford for law school if I wanted to go after I graduated with a bachelors.

Also, if I don't decide to go to law school - would staying at Baylor University and going through their business school really be worth the money? I know BU has some direct tie-ins, but are they worth it? Or would I be better going to a more affordable university and getting a bachelors there? Essentially, I'm not too happy at Baylor right now and really need some good solid advice...

Stay at Baylor and graduate with a bachelors of business and no law school

or

Transfer to cheaper university, graduate with bachelors of business, and leave the door open to law school(but if I don't decide to go to law school, I don't want to be sorry I didn't stay at Baylor)

If $ is really a serious issue for you, you should strongly consider transferring to a state school (but the better the state school the better) and spending more time during your upper class years worrying about grades and enjoying yourself rather than worrying about money. Law schools will not much care where you graduate from (or whether you transferred). They just want to know your GPA and LSAT.

Turn off your computer, go out and join some activities.

That’s my suggestion.

There must be a reason you chose Baylor. You’ve just started. It takes time to adjust. Give Baylor a chance.

To keep your options open, study and get to know some of your profs, if at all possible. You’ll need good grades and probably at least one good rec for transferring to be a viable option.

But for right now, remember why you chose Baylor and give it a chance.

Activities have nothing to do with my decision - i’m involved with a fair amount of stuff already. I’m looking at this from a pure financial and prospective future mindset.

I want to keep my options open and not worry about a quarter million dollars worth of student loan debt.

I don’t think Baylor is worth full freight, but you picked it for a reason. Take a look at Texas Tech and see how the finances work out. It’s still a fun school, but a lot cheaper. UTD and UTArl. don’t give you nearly the same college experience.
