Transfer Orientation

Hi guys, I have some bad news for transfers. I had my orientation session yesterday and I can honestly tell you that if your weren't at orientation yesterday, you are all screwed for getting classes. Even while registering for classes, we were worried that the people sitting in front of us on the computers would take our spots. Just so you know, I was looking for poli sci, econ, psychology, sociology, history and management classes. I'm not sure how the math/science classes are though.

I felt the same way yesterday. I was distraught about registering third even though my orientation counselor had two computers in her dorm room. Also, I was kicking myself in my ass for not bringing my laptop, so that I would have been able to register on that at 8. I was totally tripping. Luckily, I enrolled in my classes without any problems, but I thinking that now a lot of needed biz econ / pre biz econ discussion sections are waitlisted, and this is only the end of the first orientation. Also, planning out pre major biz econ classes without ending up with a difficult schedules seems almost impossible. After all, I needed to tweak my own idea of what an ideal schedule would be to reflect reality. I hope back to back finals don't kill me on Friday, Dec. 16............

Let me guess, EC 11, MGM 100? on Friday?

actually Econ 101 and Mgmt 100 on Friday

Does the same apply to first-time freshman?

I've got to echo what others have said... There is really a shortage of classes. I did not get exactly what I would have liked, but I got enough to make everything work right. Best of luck to those of you signed up for the last session.

The orientation was all really unecessary imo we were not allowed to register until 8 and before that we attended really long and unecessary workshops and we had to sit through several films including one about their cheating policy. I have to admit though that I enjoyed the first film they showed about ucla it just made getting into ucla official.

Hey! I actually enjoyed "the cheating zone". Doesn't apply to the majority of students, and probably won't stop anyone from cheating anyway, but it was pretty entertaining nonetheless in a campy sort of way.

The reiterate what everyone else is saying... everyone who has later transfer orientations is gonna get screwed unless UCLA opens up a bunch of new sections for certain classes

I thought "The Cheating Zone" was somewhat a waste of time, but at least it was a midly entertaining waste of time. Actually my complaint was that there were a lot of workshops I would have liked to go to, but I did not have enough time to get to everything I wish I could of. However with that said, by the end of the day, I was more then happy to be heading home. It was a long day!

I left the orientation at about 4 pm and when I got home i even had time to take a nap before i registered for my classes right at 8pm. I got everything I wanted on the first try, probablly because I was on my own computer and didn't have to wait for others to register before me. So, here's a tip for people yet to attend their orientation: you don't have to go there to register. Just wait until 8 pm, log onto URSA, and get your classes without waiting in line outside of some counselors dorm room.

If you're a freshman, you should go to orientation because it is 2-3 days and there will be more to offer. But for Transfers, since its just a 1 day thing, you're not missing much if you just stay home and register on your own. Registering is really easy and you do not need a counselor to help you. If you dont know what classes to take, then stay until you get the DPR and go home after that.
