So I got into UC Davis as a freshman but now I’m having second thoughts. I was rejected by Irvine which was my top choice because they had to close the waitlist due to too many students. And so my question was how soon can I transfer? I’ve heard of people transferring out during their first quarter. But it seems that the norm is that people transfer after 2 years. But yea, does anyone have any TRUE information about this? Because I really would like to transfer.

Go to University of California web site and get the definitive answer… I doubt it’s a UC Davis discretion.

if you really want to make things easier on yourself, dont go to davis at all. just going to community college. UC to UC transfers are pretty hard, not impossible, or as hard as csu to uc, but it will require you to have a really good GPA. if you go to community college you can have Ok grades and most likely get in. but maybe you should just give davis a shot, im sure a lot of kids were hesitant also, but ended up enjoying it. im giving it a shot, though im going in as a transfer so i only have 2 years instead of 4, but anyways, best of luck with your choice!

UC to UC is much easier than CC to UC.

Give UC Davis an honest chance. I have a lot of friends who came here dwelling on the fact that it was their “back up” school and ended up loving it. The student life is vibrant, the town is safe and everyone is really friendly. Just my 2 cents. :)

@Helpmepleasee, UC to UC is definitely not easier than CC to UC. And if you really want to go to UCI, I’d really recommend doing Community College.

I highly doubt you will feel the same way after a year at Davis. However, if you’re positive that you want to transfer to UCI, then do yourself a favor and go to a JC.
