do u guys think that professors whom you will be recieving recommendations from could possibly end up screwing you because you are leaving the school that they currently teach at and it could possibly be misconstrued as a slap in the face to the college? i mean i'm extremely paranoid about things like this but im starting to think its not far from the truth if you are getting a rec from a professor whom you did really well in their class but you didnt like completely and utterly bond with. tell me if you think im crazy but you never can really know for sure, especially if your applying to multiple top schools which can make it seem like you just want to get into a better school than the one they teach at (which in most cases, is the case).

i'm actually worried about that too. i'm gonna try getting recs from my professors from this upcoming semester so i'll be asking them in the middle of the course. i hope they aren't going to secretly hate me after i ask them to write me a rec. i'm probably going to their office hours a lot and i don't want them to eventually think that i went only because i wanted a rec from them, and not because i was truly interested in the class. although i do hope that i will enjoy their class as well.

yea i mean i think we all have that fear implanted in our minds no matter how watered down it is. transferring is stressful enough, in fact it eats away my thoughts all day long. its annoying having so many things to worry about at once.

Snap back to reality, oh there goes gravity, oh.... Seriously, if you have a professor who thinks as "small" about this as you are thinking, then your school has a problem with perspective. Professors, as I understand it, are in the profession to help students achieve their goals, and continue to progress something they're passionate about at the same time.

Your professors who give recommendations are probably able to see things a little more clearly. They probably have seen this all before. It's not like you're the only person to ever transfer.

Additionally, have you ever looked through the faculty pages of your school? I'm willing to bet that there are some, if not a bunch, who graduated from "top schools" themselves, and even so are still teaching at your school.... simply put, professors (usually, I'll admit there probably are some goofy ones) aren't as wrapped up in the "elite" facade as the students.
