I originally planned to attend a music school and play bass in college. I applied and was accepted everywhere I auditioned (new school/berklee), but when it was time to enroll my parents told me playing bass would get me nowhere ... so I was forced to attend school in rva. My SAT/high school GPA are so low b/c i really never considered going anywhere but a school for music.

I also took japanese in hs but it isnt offered at my college. I will be taking japanese class during the summer at tcc

What do you think my chances of getting into /jmu as a transfer are(ill apply my sophomore year)

Any other suggestions for schools?

urm if that helps

pretty please

I hate all of you

if anyone bothers ever replying ... i got internship with delegate at general assembly amd I gotz mad ECs yo

Sorry about the lack of replies, I know how frustrating that can be. To be honest, I have no idea what JMU's "standards" are for transfer applicants. It looks good to me, but I could be completely wrong.

Hi RVA-
I'm sorry too, but I have no idea. Your stats seems ok, so what does the website say for transfers?

Good luck!

Hey!! I'm your competition! I'm applying for fall 09. I got a 3.80 GPA fall 08 and will shoot for a 4.0 this spring. I had a 3.5 GPA in High School with a 1690 SAT. And yes, I have alot of EC's. Good luck to you!! JMU wants at least a 3.0, so I think you'll be ok. It's your HS GPA that kills you.

thanks for the reply. yeah ... my hs gpa sucks, but I landed same really sweet internships so maybe that will cancel it out.

im applying spring 09/fall 10 (haven't decided yet), so we aren't really comp. best of luck

I'm also your competition. I am currently a sophomore at Radford University. I have a cumulative GPA of 3.6 consisting of Gen. Eds and about 21 credits within my major (computer science) and 6 more coming from this semester. After this semester i will have a total of 62 credits and hopefully still above a 3.5. I believe you will get in. I am hoping I will get in, but for some reason I feel I don't need to hope. I would actually be surprised if I do not get accepted. I hate the agreement that JMU has with community colleges in Virginia that if you have a 3.0 or above and have completed 60 credits you are basically accepted. NOT COOL JMU, NOT COOL.

I guess Im also your competition. Im a freshman at VT with a 3.5. I'll be surprised also if I don't get in, although for some reason I don't want to be too sure of my chances. It couldn't hurt that I already got into JMU a year ago but I have learned to be never absolutely certain of anything.

I just got my acceptance letter today in the mail. It said that I was accepted on February 13, 2009. The funny thing is I found out on January 14 that the transfer application for summer 2009 was due on January 15, I turned in everything late, I didn't write an essay, didn't put any EC's, no SATs or ACTs and still got in. I also got in to the College of Business and only a hand full of kids get in, fewer then 35. Looks like my 4.0 payed off. I hope that most of you applied for the summer not the fall(fighting for the same spots) so you don't have you sit around and wait to hear back from them.

^^^Hardly anybody applies for the summer semester, and I personally don't mind waiting a month or so to hear back. From what I hear they accept 65% of transfer applicants (about 1800 applied last year and around 1200 were accepted).
