I went to SJSU right out of high school. I dropped out mid semester at SJSU and failed all of my classes. That was 7 years ago. I am now in my third semester at a community college.

I want to transfer next fall to a UC or CSU as a computer science major. By then I will have two years of strait A's. Still my GPA will only be a 3.15. I will have completed all of the desired major related courses: calc I,II,III, linear algebra, discrete math, differential equations, programming I,II, physics I,II, assembly/computer organization, plus my general ed.

My main question is in regards to the selection process. By next fall I will have a 3.15, but when I apply it will be even lower (maybe about a 2.8). I'm hoping that my recent performance would make it possible to somehow overcome my past, but I'm worried I'll simply be sorted out without consideration due to my low GPA.

I really would like to get into the best school possible. I wish I could get into UCB.

With this low of a GPA, will my application even get looked at? Is it even possible for someone in my circumstances to get into UCB? Cal Poly? Where could I expect to get accepted?

Thanks,

Ty
