I heard that there was a transfer program from UCR to UCLA's medical program
top 24 students that apply to UCLA's med program from UCR get to go.

My roommate from July 13th/14th orientation said that there was a program for UCR to UCI too.

Does anyone know of any transfer programs out of UCR?

there is no UCR to UCI program I think. I heard that the ucla program will be cancel in a few years since the the med school will finish by then . the only reason they have that program is that ucr only has a 2/3 med school right now so a jc med school pretty much

They are still going for it though. They stopped all construction on campus to solely fund it. so no material science building,no new dorms that were planned, no new kitchens in Elo or A-I so that the Med school goes through. The reason is that the IE has a pop of 2 mil and only about 7 hospitals so the region is really needing this school

I think the program you are talking about is called the Thomas Haider program. It has to do with med school, not undergrad. Basically the program holds 24 seats open for students who want to attend UCLA med school, completing the first 2 years are completed at UCR, and the last 2 are completed at UCLA. The diploma awarded is identical to one awarded if one should stay at UCLA for all 4 years of med school. Good program, a big reason why I chose UCR

By the way, they are not going to stop doing this even when they get their own Medical School. I talked to someone on Discover Day and she said that they will still have this option open to students.

lol, love the math battle you guys have going on…
put it this way, you cant goto med school (which is a graduate school, of medicine…) without first getting a bachelors degree (your undergrad degree, which normally takes 4-5 years)

wanted to back up that the Thomas Haider will exist for a number of years after we start up the med school program in 2012.

I hate how they give priority to JC’s over UCs like at another UC or even at USC , if you go to their transfer site, most of the ppl are from JC’s…
even then you only have like 15-20% chance…

Where are you getting your numbers, Chineezy. Someone a while back pulled up UC-UC stats from statfinder that showed the numbers between CCC-UC and UC-UC transfers were almost the same.

The only differences between transferring from a CCC or a UC are:

1) CC = TAG (guaranteed admission with a GPA >3.0) Exception: UCLA/Cal
2) CC = Much easier coursework
3) CC = You get “priority” (Except UCLA) above other UC transfers, but the priority is small.

If you can maintain a high GPA, you can relatively easy go to UCI as a junior transfer.

My roommate for orientation said there was an UCR/UCI transfer program. I didn’t believe him that’s why i came and asked here.

I went on USC’s website and looked, it said 8500 transfer students apply a year and 1500 get in. But rumor has it that UC-UC transfers were substantially harder than JC->UC. Many of the people I’ve been asking such as college students as well as prospective freshmen said so, but I’m sure they’re all just saying that cause they’re told. Another point is that it’s harder because you’re already in the UC system so to the admissions people put you into lower priority.

UC to UC are harder if you head to the Merced forum they were talking something similar to that. But it some what common sense that their is no such thing as a UCR-UCI program because UCR is not a jc. the UCR-UCLA program differs cause thats for med school you do your first two here and last two at LA not undergrad
