Transfer Question? (taking a semester off)

So first, a little background. I graduated out of a Texas high school, was top 10%, great SAT/ACT scores, clubs, etc. I had lived in Florida when I was little and my parents purchased a prepaid tuition plan, so once I graduated, I decided to go to Florida State University. I just finished my first semester and to say the least, I had a rather bad time, but that really isn’t the point of this thread. I am now considering transferring to a Texas college, but was wondering whether it is a viable option to take the spring semester off, use the time to work, volunteer, and generally pad my resume, and then transfer into the Texas college starting next fall. Is it possible to do this? I am not sure if I would be able to unenroll from FSU, take the semester off, and then transfer to the new college. As a side note, I am positive I would be accepted into the college I want to transfer to, so that is not an issue. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank You.

Sure. It is perfectly fine to take the semester off. Just be sure to get the paperwork sorted out at FSU.

Would you be able to pm me why you don’t like fsu? I’m looking to transfer!
