i posted this in the transfer forum but was hoping to get some additional responses here . . (i am currently at UCR and am applying for transfer this november . . UCLA is one of my prospective choices)

Psych is becoming progressively more impacted and they have a lot of restrictions. Do as many pre-reqs as possible with the highest grades you cant manage.

thanks for the responses . . yah yall are right . . that physics class worries me cuz im not very good in that field (ie: calculus, physics, etc.)

4.0, tap certified, igetc, 400 hours community service in the psychology field, numerous awards and a few scholarships (even got invited by UCLA regents and UCLA alumni to apply for scholarships)…completed all of the requirements except for one because it was recently changed and I didn’t know about it. Didn’t get in. SRSLY ***EM

Yes, you need to complete all prereq.'s if you even want to have your application read. Trust me, a counselor told this to me first hand.
My application wasn’t even read the first time around because I forgot to put that I had bypassed one of the prereqs. with a class i took in high school (and so she told me that they didn’t read it). I think they just get way too many well qualified applicants that do HAVE all their prereqs completed. This is particularly true for such an impacted major like psych or any other major that does not have that many major prereq requirements.

As a transfer from a CC, definately complete all the pre-reqs to be considered for Psych. It is so uberly impacted that now that they really won’t consider you if you haven’t completed everything. It’s not really that many classes tho if you think about it (5).

You don’t need to take Physics, you can also take Chemistry (even Introduction classes work if you’re still scared). Nor do you have to take Calculus, they actually prefer Statistics.

That being said, GPA is also really looked at. I had a 3.8, TAP, IGETC done, etc but had not take Philosophy yet, so got into my alternate major- Anthro (Once I’m there in Fall, I’m still going to try and weasle my way in for a double major).
