Hi,

I am going into Sophomore year at West Virginia University and still feel like it isn't really what I expected. I have a good job here now working in Advertising which is also my major and I know this could help me down the road with networking. I just feel like I don't fit though. The vibe is that you always need to be partying when I have a more laid back personality that likes to have fun but not literally rage every day. I have been thinking about transferring closer (30 min away) to home to a smaller school that I am familiar with.

Am I being irrational? Should I stay at WVU if it may help me down the road but lead to a bad college experience? or should I go to a smaller school where I may be more happy?

Need suggestions

Definitely weigh out the pros and cons. The other school might make you happier, but will it provide you with a good future? If it’s only 30min away you might be able to keep your advertising job too, if you have means of transportation that is. I’m one of those people who believe that everything is what you make it, so maybe you’re hanging out with the wrong crowd at your college now or you just haven’t fully adjusted yet. Although you should be happy, and I assure you that you can go anywhere with a good attitude and get something positive out of the experience. I wish you all the best, college is supposed to be some of the best years of your life, but make sure you keep an eye out on your future.

I meant 30 minutes away from home. West Virginia University is currently 5 hours away from home so keeping the job really isn’t an option either.

Oh okay, that probably makes your decision harder. Just try to make the right choice for you, if that means switching schools then all the power to you!

I’m probably going to apply and see how this semester goes then make a decision by thanksgiving/christmas
