Hi all,
I currently attend a community college, where I am majoring in Communications. I have around a 3.5 cumulative I think, I went to a public university in state beforehand, which is why my GPA is a bit lower. I will have about 32 units when I transfer, and am involved in two clubs on campus ( I am the president of one). I also volunteer at a vetenairy clinic and a church (have 50 hours at vetenairy and around 20 at church). I am also involved in three internships, one which has been upgraded to a full time paid position. My high school grades and SAT’s suck, so I want to go somewhere preferably where I wont have to submit them. I haven’t finished the igetc yet ( just have science to go) so I can’t apply to CSU’s yet, but is ther any other private universities that I could apply to for safeties? I am going to apply to USD, U of San Francisco, Northeastern, LMU, Chapman, U of La Verne, Mount St. Marys (but they don’t have communications major.) Thanks!
For CSUs, you do not actually have to finish all of IGETC or general education before transfer, but it is advantageous to do so before transfer. You do need the “golden four” courses complete before transfer to a CSU, though.
However, most CSUs admit only junior-level transfers (60 semester units or more at the time of transfer). Junior-level transfers to CSU do not need any high school stuff. However, sophomore-level transfers to CSUs and other selective schools generally do need to submit high school stuff.
Remember that safeties must be affordable.
@ucbalumnus Yes I understand that. I just was wondering if you knew a school on the easier side that I could apply to for Communications.
Not well known but a very good universities: Concordia in Irvine and Azusa Pacific in Covina.
